Ideas for Pajama Day Snacks

In many preschools and elementary schools across the United States, teachers host a pajama day for their students. On pajama day, the school children are asked to wear their favorite pair of pajamas and fuzzy slippers. Kids are also encouraged to bring a favorite stuffed animal to cuddle with and their own pillow. Many teachers arrange fun and interactive activities for the day, which are all centered around the sleep theme. For example, the teachers may read from classic bedtime stories, such as "Goodnight Moon," and snack time may be centered around the letter "P." The following are pajama day snacks that focus on "P."
  1. Pigs in a Blanket

    • An easy pajama day snack is pigs in a blanket. You will want to prepare this snack beforehand. All you need are hot dogs (cut in half) and crescent roll dough (separated into eight triangles). Wrap the hot dog in the crescent roll, and bake in the oven at 375 degrees F for roughly 15 minutes. If there is a microwave in the classroom, heat up the pigs in a blanket before serving.

    Pancakes

    • A traditional pajama day snack has to be pancakes. This is another snack that you'll want to make before pajama day, but it's simple to do. You can buy pancake mixture at any grocery store; follow the instructions and you'll have your pancakes in no time. Reheat the pancakes in a microwave in the classroom or at the school, and serve to the children. An easier way to serve pancakes is to buy microwaveable pancakes, which you can find in the freezer section of any local grocery store.

    Mini-Pizzas

    • Another delicious treat to serve as a pajama day snack are mini-pizzas. To make mini-pizzas, buy refrigerated pizza crust, a can of tomato sauce, and any toppings you think the children would like. Unroll the dough and use a cookie cutter to separate the dough into small circles. Spread tomato sauce on each and top it with pepperoni and cheese (for a "P"-themed mini pizza). Bake the pizza according to package instructions. Once you get to the school, reheat the mini-pizza in a toaster oven for a few minutes.

    Other "P"-Themed Snacks

    • For simple pajama day snacks, consider serving Pepsi or purple-colored juice (or punch) along with pretzels, peanut butter sandwiches or just plain peanuts, popcorn, pumpkin seeds, and other "P"-themed snacks. If you are serving peanuts, make sure that the children do not have a peanut allergy.
