Make a fall tree in the classroom that can change with the seasons. Cut out the trunk and branches from brown construction paper, or use brown paper bags. Tape it to a wall in the classroom. Give kids a leaf stencil to trace onto white paper, or have them cut out a leaf that is already drawn. Ask each child to decorate the leaf and make it his own. Provide crayons, markers, glitter, sequence, buttons and glue. Let the leaves dry, then tape them around the branches of the tree. For spring, have kids decorate green leaves and flower blossoms to decorate the tree.
Make a cheerful sunflower to celebrate spring or summer. Give preschoolers a yellow paper plate and yellow tissue paper. Ask kids to cut out strips from the tissue paper to form the petals of the flower. Glue the petals around the yellow plate. Give kids sunflower seeds. Ask them to put dots of glue onto the center of their plates and push the seeds onto the glue. Hang the sunflowers with green ribbon. You can also make stems with green construction paper.
Make a landscape picture to illustrate the season. Ask kids to browse magazines and cut out a picture of a house from a magazine page. Glue the house onto a sheet of dark blue construction paper. Give kids a pencil with a round eraser and a plate of white paint. Instruct them to dip the eraser into the paint and dot it onto the blue paper, creating a snowy background for the house. This project can also be done for spring with light blue paper and blue paint to represent raindrops. Try a fall picture with red, orange and yellow paint to represent falling leaves.
Make a picture of a summer garden, using paper muffin cups. Buy multicolored muffin cups and let kids choose several colors for their garden. Give each child a piece of white or light blue construction paper. Have the kids glue the muffin cups to the paper in a zig-zag line across the paper to form flowers. Give them pom-poms to glue in the middle of the muffin tins to make the centers of the flowers. Glue on green pipe cleaners to form the stems and the leaves.
