A Preschool Teacher's Duties

A preschool is more than just a place for kids to go while mom and dad are working. It is a place where they can go to learn important skills that will help them succeed as they grow up. Preschool teachers work with the parents to ensure the kids are ready to move on to kindergarten. She is responsible for guiding and preparing children for future school attendance.
  1. Curriculum Development

    • A preschool teacher is in charge of planning, developing, implementing and supervising classroom activities and curriculum. He is responsible for teaching children through movement activities, language arts projects, art and music. His daily lesson plan must include activities that help the children's social, emotional and intellectual skills while keeping a positive learning environment. He is also in charge of ordering and obtaining the proper materials and supplies needed for the daily lesson plan.

    Evaluate

    • A preschool teachers is responsible for watching and evaluating the children in her classroom to ensure they are properly progressing. She will give written evaluations to the parents and communicate any issues with the child's development. She will also help seek out assistance to fix any development issues. She also needs to create reports on students and results of her activities to be turned into the school's administration.

    Special Events

    • The preschool teachers, along with the school's staff and other teachers, will plan different events. Events may include holiday celebrations, special presentations and field trips. He will also host an open house in his classroom to introduce the children and parents to the upcoming preschool year and what the expectations are.

    Room

    • Each preschool teacher is in charge of her own classroom, including decorating, updating bulletin boards, and keeping it clean and organized. It is her responsibility to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for all the children in her class. The room must be a place where children can comfortably interact together and learn as a group.
