Tell the children about Noah and God's warning of the coming flood. Use a cardboard box to represent the ark and have two children pose as Noah and his wife. Have Noah and his wife draw pictures of the supplies they would need to feed and water the animals. Have each child draw a pair of animals that would be on the boat. When the students finish, have them tape their picture to the "ark," while Noah and his wife promise to take good care of their animals.
This will reinforce the responsibility that fell to Noah, and how the children visualize the number of animals that were on board the ark.
Teach the children to sing "Find a Friend and give a hug, give a hug, give a hug. Find a Friend and give a hug, we love Jesus" to the tune of London Bridge. Once everyone knows the song, have all the children face each other in two lines. Have each child hold up her hands and grab the child's hands who is standing across from her. This forms the "arch." Pull two or three children from the arch, and have them walk one at a time under the arch as the children sing the song. When the song ends, the children bring down their hands and "capture" the child walking there. Each child hugs the "captured" child, then he picks the next child to walk through the bridge. Keep playing until every child has been captured.
Place enough chairs for all the children in two rows, back to back, then remove one chair. Have all the children march around the chairs while you play a recorded song, or simply sing a favorite like "Jesus Loves Me." When you stop the music, the children must scramble to find a seat. The child who does not have a place to sit must tell the other students one thing that God has done that makes him grateful, such as "I am thankful that God created flowers." Have the other children cheer and applaud his idea. Start the game again.
