Teeth Care Crafts for Preschoolers

Encourage preschool children to care for their teeth early on by featuring teeth care crafts. Talk about the importance of brushing and flossing and then get into crafting. Use paint, paper and home dental cleaning tools such as dental floss and toothbrushes to make these crafts stand out. Showcase these crafts at any time during the year or during Dental Health Month in February.
  1. Custom Toothbrushes and Dental Floss Containers

    • Show the kids how to make custom toothbrushes and dental floss containers with puff paint. Help them make yellow stars, pink hearts or other designs on each case. Let the puff paint dry completely on one side of the case before decorating the back. They can make squiggly lines, polka dots or tiny hearts on the toothbrushes also. Avoid getting puff paint on the actual brush, so the tools remain useable.

    Tooth Fairy Boxes

    • Help the kids make detailed tooth fairy boxes with messages that remind them to brush their teeth. Give all the children small boxes with lids that fit in the palm of their hand. You can find these types of boxes online or at the craft store. Write the words "Brush Your Teeth" on the top of the lid before the kids begin decorating. Help the children decorate the boxes by drawing hearts, miniature teeth, toothbrushes and other fun designs on the sides and bottom.

    Dental Care Picture Guidebook

    • Help the kids cut out pictures from magazines or online sources of other children brushing their teeth, flossing and then using mouth wash. Glue each dental care picture on a piece of construction paper and write down what the child is doing at the bottom of the page. Keep the pages together and punch three holes in the left hand side of each page. Then secure the books with blue and white yarn. Allow the kids to pick out another dental care picture for the cover. They can also cut out a large white tooth and place this on the cover.

    Pop Out Tooth

    • Encourage the kids to make a pop out tooth with white cardstock and cotton balls. Help them cut out a tooth shape and then glue cotton balls all over the tooth. Show them how to glue plastic eyeballs on their pop out tooth. Cut out a mouth and nose from red cardstock and glue these on the tooth, too.
