Carpet freshener can be expensive. Instead of buying it, make some at home using baby powder as the base. Mix together 3/4 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of baby powder and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. For scented carpet freshener, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Sprinkle the mixture onto the carpet and vacuum it up after 15 minutes.
It may be hard to believe, but a simple silly putty recipe includes baby powder. Three teaspoons of glue, 1 teaspoon of baby powder, food coloring, 5 teaspoons of water and 1 teaspoon of Borax powder are all you need. Mix the powder, water, glue and food coloring in a glass mixing bowl then add the Borax to make a tough silly putty. Knead the mixture with your hands until you reach the desired consistency; increase or reduce ingredients in future recipes, as desired.
Little girls will love this project. Simply mix 1 cup of baby powder with 1/4 cup of glitter to make sparkly body glitter. Apply it with a makeup brush anywhere on the body, using caution around the eyes. The glitter will adhere to the skin after the powder is brushed away.
Try making your own powder baby powder at home. Mix 1/2 cup of arrowroot powder with about seven or eight drops of lavender essential oil. If desired, add white chalk a tiny bit at a time to adjust the consistency. Change the amounts of ingredients as desired to make more or less powder.
