Give your preschoolers something to take home by having them make a weather mobile. Have each child draw a picture of different weather conditions and cut them out. The kids can use glitter, markers or crayons to finish their designs and add a personal touch. Poke a hole in the top of each piece, tie on a piece of yarn and tie the other end to the bottom edge of a clothes hanger to form a mobile.
Cut out basic snowflake shapes. Pass one or two out to each student and give them supplies to decorate the snowflakes. Have students paint them, sprinkle on glitter or make designs with crayons. During the craft session, talk about how no two snowflakes are the same, just like the students' snowflakes. You can also turn the flakes into ornaments by using card stock and attaching hangers.
When you are studying wind and air currents, have your preschoolers make kite crafts. Have them glue Popsicle sticks together to make the frame of a kite. Then they can cut out the shape of the kite from tissue paper or construction paper. Glue the paper to the kite frame and attach a piece of yarn to the bottom of the kite to represent the string.
For a collective preschool craft project, make a weather mural. Tape a large piece of poster paper along the bottom part of one of your classroom walls, at a height where your little ones can reach easily. Hand out finger paints, markers and crayons and ask each child to draw their favorite weather condition. You can also have them draw a scene that they remember that involved weather. The kids can show their poster to their parents when they come to pick them up.
