Gather old comic books, making sure they are not collectibles. Help the preschoolers cut out their favorite images and attach the images with white glue to a piece of heavy paper. Cut out the heavy paper around the image. Give the project back to the child and help him glue a magnet to the back of the heavy paper. The child has a magnet to display at home.
Find a black and white image of a superhero. Print out enough copies for each preschooler. Allow the children to color in the superhero and give the coloring back to you. Cut out the superhero, removing the arms from the hero. Give the children an empty toilet paper roll and help them glue the body to the roll. Glue the arms to extend out from the roll by making small folded tabs at the shoulders.
Use card stock to make masks. Print templates or draw masks free hand on card stock, enough for each student. Allow the students to color and decorate the masks. Cut out the masks and remove eye holes, making sure the eye holes are big enough for the children to see clearly. Hole punch the sides to add string and allow children to try on their new creations.
Use foam rectangles, superhero stickers and glitter pens for this activity. The preschoolers will make a personalized superhero door sign with these materials. Buy foam rectangles with pre cut holes or cut holes yourself, large enough to fit over a door handle. Allow the preschoolers to cover the rectangles with stickers, then help them write the words, "Superhero (Name)" in glitter pen.
