Preschool Craft for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer With Hand Prints

Hand print crafts are a way to give your preschoolers hands-on experience with the arts while using their creativity. These types of crafts are also a way to document their age throughout the years with their names and the date on each hand print masterpiece. Christmas is a time to make hand print crafts to give to grandparents, and both the child’s hands and feet can be used to make Rudolph the Reindeer crafts.
  1. Cut Outs

    • Make a herd of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with cut outs of your preschoolers' hands and feet. To make these, you will need orange and brown construction paper, googly eyes, glue, pink pipe cleaners and red pompoms. Trace each of the children’s hands onto orange construction paper and one foot on the brown construction paper then cut them out. Glue each hand print to the toe side of a footprint to create the reindeer head. Use a pipe cleaner for the mouth, along with the googly eyes and the red pompom for a nose to complete Rudolph's face.

    Hand Print Rudolph

    • Use your preschoolers' hand prints to make the body of a reindeer, complete with red nose. The materials you will need include brown construction paper, red ribbon, silver sequins, googly eyes, red pompoms and brown pipe cleaners. Trace each child’s hand on the construction paper and cut it out. The thumb of the hand print will be the reindeer’s head, and the fingers will be the legs. Add the googly eye, a red pompom for the nose and a brown pipe cleaner for the antlers on the hand print thumb. Glue a piece of ribbon around the neck and add silver sequins for the collar.

    Paper Plate Reindeer

    • Make a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer out of two paper plates and brown paint. You will also need red pompoms, googly eyes, orange construction paper and glue. Paint two paper plates brown and let them dry completely. Trace two hand prints on the orange construction paper and cut them out for the antlers. Fold both plates in half and cut the sides off one of the plates to make the face and legs. Add the googly eyes, hand print antlers and a red pompom to the face. Glue the head to the flat side of the other folded plate and the legs to the rounded side.

    Finger Paints

    • Let your preschoolers get their hands dirty by making a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with finger paints. You will need brown and yellow finger paints, sheets of white or ivory construction paper, googly eyes and red pompoms. Cover both of your preschoolers' hands with brown paint then press them on a sheet of paper side-by-side to form the body with their fingers as the legs. Cover the palm of one hand with brown paint for the head and put yellow paint on the fingers for antlers then press down on top of the reindeer’s body. Allow the paint to completely dry then add googly eyes and a red pompom to the face.
