Only one baby can grow in a woman's womb at a time. A pregnancy involving more than one fetus is called a multiple pregnancy, and the most common type of multiple pregnancy is twins. Other multiple pregnancies, such as triplets, quadruplets, and quintuplets, are much less common and are usually the result of fertility treatments.
