Mbps, or megabytes per second, is the measurement for data transfer speeds, such as the rate at which your computer can download information from the Internet or copy from your hard drive to a flash drive. KBs, or kilobytes, is the measurement for the amount of data. In order to convert from Mbps to KBs, you need to know how long it took the data to transfer. In addition, you need to know that there are 1,000 kB for every MB so that you can convert the total amount of data transferred.

1
Count the time elapsed with a stopwatch, preferably in seconds.
-
2
Multiply 100 Mbps by the number of seconds to find the number of MBs. For example, if 15 seconds elapsed, multiply 100 by 15 to get 1,500 MBs.

3
Multiply the number of MBs by 1,000 to convert to KBs. In this example, multiply 1,500 by 1,000 to convert to 1.5 million KBs.
