Kindergarten Graduation Poem Ideas

Kindergarten graduation poems can make the ceremony even more special. Such poems may be recited by teachers, parents or students, and often reflect the past year and look forward to a bright future. Look for kindergarten graduation poems on education sites, or compose one of your own for the occasion.
  1. Congratulatory Poems

    • Congratulatory poems celebrate all that a kindergarten has achieved that year. Poems can highlight certain events and field trips, or the hard work children put into specific projects. A famous example of a congratulatory poem is: "Oh! The Places You Go," by Dr. Seuss, which includes the lines "Kid, you'll move mountains!" and "Your mountain is waiting/So get on your way." Congratulatory poems can also refer to the success that parents know their children will achieve in first grade.

    Teacher Poems

    • Another idea for kindergarten graduation poems focuses more on the teacher. Such poems can include how much the teacher has enjoyed teaching students and how much he cares for the students. A teacher poem may also mention how fast the year went and how sad the teacher is to see the student go, as well as encouraging students to remember the fun they had in class, and how special the students are.

    Send-Off Poems

    • Write a poem that officially "sends off" the students into first grade. These types of poems can briefly reflect on how the students have been prepared for the next step in their education. They can also mention how the students will be embarking on a new academic adventure and how proud you are (parent or teacher) of the students. The end of the poem should include the sending of good wishes and hoping the best for future happiness and success. A line saying "May all your dreams come true" is appropriate for such poems.

    Other Ideas and Tips

    • Additional ideas for kindergarten graduation poems include lines from famous poems, such as Rudyard Kipling's "If." Writing out your own composition or favorite appropriate poem in calligraphy or other nice penmanship and having it framed is also an option. Sites such as DLTK's Growing Together provide graduation poems and templates for creating framed poems. Poems may also be attached to small graduation gifts or recited by students themselves.
