Kindergarten Ideas on Lizards

Kindergarten students are at an age where they are extremely inquisitive and not a little messy. When choosing crafts and projects for kindergarten students it is important to remember that you will be the one cleaning up after the project. Projects on lizards are beneficial for this age because you can teach them about different types of lizards and help develop their hand-eye coordination skills.
  1. Fuzzy Lizard

    • Using a piece of construction paper, trace the outline of a lizard onto the paper. Instruct your students to color several cotton balls different shades of green, blue and gray using markers. Have the students glue cotton balls onto the outline of the lizard for a multi-colored, fuzzy lizard.

    Colorful Lizards

    • Create a fun, three-dimensional lizard using file folders. Trace a lizard onto file folders and have your kindergarten students cut it out. Ask students to color the lizard using markers, crayons or paint. Glue four short pipe cleaners to the bottom of the lizard to make it look as if it is standing.

    Easy Lizard

    • Both simple and easy, creating a colorful lizard using crayons is a fun craft that helps kindergarten students work on their hand-eye coordination. Trace a lizard onto a piece of construction paper or photocopy an outline of a lizard. Kindergarten students can color the lizard and work on staying inside the lines.

    Foam Lizards

    • Using a piece of foam, cut out a 2 inch-by-6 inch rectangle. Cut the corners to make them rounded. Cut four 4-inch pieces of pipe cleaner and poke them into the foam to make the lizard legs, then fold them at a slight angle to make them look like legs. Poke a 6-inch piece of pipe cleaner into the front of the foam to make a tongue and a 12-inch piece, curled and in the back, to make the tail. Color eyes on the foam lizard using a marker.
