An animal habitat worksheet helps kindergartners identify which animals belong in the ocean habitat, and which ones do not. Provide students with individual worksheets that contain images of a variety of animals, such as fish, squid, jellyfish, seahorses, clams, lobsters, dolphins, sharks, whales, giraffes, lions, bears, tigers, dogs and cats. Scramble up the images so that the ocean habitat animals are not clustered together. Instruct students to color in the animals that belong in the ocean habitat using a box of crayons. Give students class time to work on this project, and look over their worksheets when they are done.

You can teach kindergartners about the animals that dominate the seas, such as the sharks, and which animals eat other animals. Host a class project where you provide large cutout images of ocean animals and plants, such as sharks, fish, eels, whales and seaweed. Ask the class to help you sort the images in order of the food chain. As the students call out directions for you, paste the images to the front board in the classroom so that the students can see how the food chain works. For instance, a shark would be above the fish, and the fish would be above the seaweed.
Talk to kindergartners about water pollution and how it impacts the ocean's habitat. For a project, tell students to come up with ideas for saving the ocean habitat. Give each student construction paper and crayons and encourage them to think about creative inventions that can save the ocean, or things that people can do to help. Ask students to share their ideas with the rest of the class when the project is done.
Arts and crafts projects are stimulating for kindergartners, so you can incorporate collage-making into your ocean habitat lesson. Supply a variety of wildlife or nature magazines that contain ocean-related images. Using card stock, craft scissors and glue, kindergartners work individually to cut out images from the magazines that pertain to the ocean habitat and glue them onto the card stock. Encourage students to get creative with the images and explain why certain images reminded them of the ocean habitat.
