Go to the Foundation Center website. The Foundation Center has a searchable grant database that includes foundation grants and corporate grant opportunities. Large corporations, such as Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Fund, provide grants specifically for parent groups. When searching through such grant databases, you may search under PTO, PTA, education, schoolbooks, teacher support, elementary or secondary school, and similar terminology.
Register at the Grants.gov website, which offers an opportunity for educational institutions or other organizations to find and apply for grants from federal agencies, including the United States Department of Education. In order to apply for federal grants, you need to request an identification number, which may take up to 4 weeks. Once you receive your identification number, you may apply for grants.
Review the Department of Education website for your state and request information from the Office of Grants Management. Grant opportunities provide you with an opportunity to apply for entitlement and discretionary grant opportunities for specific projects or needs.
Request support from foundations within your community who are interested in education and programs in schools. Your area chamber of commerce may prove a beneficial resource in identifying companies and grants for schools in your area.
