Know the MEAP test dates so that you can begin preparing your child ahead of time. The MEAP test generally takes place in the first two or three weeks of October. Test results are then shipped to the Department of Education by the school.
Use school information, handouts and MEAP study tips to prepare your child for the various subjects on which he will be tested. The MEAP website contains printouts and PDF files of content information for testing.
Go over your child's class grades, tests and homework to see whether there are any subjects in which he may need tutoring, extra help or more preparation for a test. Although standardized tests do not accurately reflect the level of an individual's education, work done in school can alert you to any deficiencies in your child's knowledge or understanding.
Talk to your child about standardized testing so that she understands what the test is for and is better prepared to handle the test schedule. Show her a test schedule and explain how the test works.
Prepare your child on the day of the test. Make sure he has extra pencils or writing utensils, a calculator and any other necessary items for successfully completing the MEAP test.
