Grants for Families With Autistic Children

Autism is a developmental disability that affects communication skills, cognitive function and social interaction in children, and symptoms typically appear before the age of three. According to the National Autism Association (NAA), boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls, and one in 150 individuals are diagnosed with the disorder in the United States. As a result, there are thousands of families in need of funding to support therapy and other interventions to care for autistic children.
  1. National Autism Association (NAA)

    • The Helping Hand Program, through the National Autism Association, provides families of autistic children a one-time grant of up to $1,500 for therapy services, biomedical treatments or supplement services. Qualifications include that the child be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, be 18 years old or younger and live in the United States. A copy of the parents' tax return and a letter from the child's physician confirming diagnosis must be provided with the grant application. Awards are paid directly to the service providers.
