How to Check a Child's School Grades in Shawnee, Oklahoma

Report card time is agonizing for some students who have not made the grade. Failing grades may lead to punishments at home or more study time. Children have tried to escape bad grades for decades. Modern technology and improved communication are making it harder to hide bad grades. Parents striving to find grades only need to know how to communicate with the school their child attends. Shawnee School District in Oklahoma has four elementary schools, an early learning center, one middle school and one high school.

Contact the school to begin the search. Ask how to obtain records of your child's grades and what forms may be needed. If the child is still enrolled in one of Shawnee's schools, this process will be easier and faster than if the child has already graduated to the next level.

Search online. While the Shawnee school district does not post grades online, individual teachers have websites connected to the main school site. Parents and community members can reach separate classes through the high school links. Check the individual websites of the teachers to find out if they will post or email grades to you.

Arrange a parent teacher conference. Teachers are eager to assist parents with the success of the students, and most teachers will make themselves available to parents wishing to discuss grades. Again, check the Shawnee school district website to arrange a conference or contact the school directly.

Ask for a transcript. Contact the Shawnee High School to obtain transcripts from the office registrar. Provide in writing name at time of attendance, date of birth, date of attendance and your signature. Drop off the information at the registrar's office, mail, email or fax the request.
