Review the portrait backgrounds on the order form that was sent home by your child's school. Familiarize yourself with them and think about how each one makes you feel. For example, a plain blue background might make you think of a classic portrait while a background with laser beams running in all directions gives you the sense that you are in space.
Compare the feelings you get when you reviewed the possible background choices with the personality of your child. For example, a child who is calm and studious would look better in a classic background, while a child who is artistic and free-spirited would do well with a busy background.
Pick-out an outfit for your child to wear on picture day and take note of its color. This will help you narrow down your classic or artistic backgrounds to a color that does not clash with your child's outfit. For example, a pink dress would not look good against a classic red background.
Show your child the background choices and ask his opinion. Of course you have the final say since you are paying for the pictures, but it may be beneficial for your child to choose a background that he will be happy with. This may also be the way to go if you have narrowed your choices down to two particular backgrounds, but can't make up your mind as to which one to choose.
Fill out the form completely being careful to circle the background of your choice. Send the order form into school along with the correct amount of money.
