Instructions

    • 1

Draft a list of your ideas. Write the general reasons why you want to write a grievance about the teacher. Highlight the manner in which the teacher been disrespectful to you or your child. Note inadequacies in the way the material has been taught.

    • 2

Continue collecting your thoughts by noting the specific instances that have led you to write the grievance. Identify exact dates and times incidents with the teacher happened. For example, you could note that on June 25th in the afternoon, Teacher X called me "a stupid person."

    • 3

Detail the effect the negative incidents have had on you. Mention, for example, if the teacher's behavior caused you to withdraw from the class or stop trying.

    • 4

Express what you hope to achieve by writing the grievance. For example, state that you hope the teacher will be spoken to by his superior.

    • 5

Compose a typed grievance letter that takes into consideration everything you noted in steps one through four. Address the letter to the teacher or the teacher's superior. End by indicating you will follow up a week after you send the letter.

    • 6

Deliver the letter in person if possible.
