Sit down and go over the school rules with your child. Answer any questions he may have about the rules, including why each rule is important.
Role play school situations with your child. This interaction is especially helpful for children who have never participated in a school-like setting. Act as the teacher or another student, and have your child practice responding in a way that follows school rules.
Explain the consequences of misbehaving at school. You should discuss both school and home consequences, so your child understands that her school behavior will result in consequences in both places.
Remind your child of school rules each morning before school. If your child is having a hard time with a particular rule, put an emphasis on that rule during your morning conversation.
Enforce the consequences you have set at home for misbehavior at school. Following through with the consequences will show your child that you are serious about his school behavior.
