Millions of students qualify for free and reduced-cost lunches because of their family's annual income level. In order to qualify for free or reduced lunches, families cannot earn more than the federal income guidelines. For example, in 2010, a family of three can get reduced-cost lunches if they earn $33,874 or less per year. They can get free lunches if they earn $23,803 or less per year. You can access data about the number of students receiving free or reduced-cost lunches in a variety of ways.

      Locate the statistics for free and reduced lunches at a website such as City-Data, which gives such data about schools.

      Visit your school district's website. Many school districts post lunch data for informational purposes. You can find you school district's website by searching on Google, Yahoo, Bing or another search engine.

      Call the school directly to inquire about the information. Ask to be transferred to the school's cafeteria, if the receptionist or the main office is unable to give you this information. Cafeterias have staff members who will be able to give you these statistics.
