The Bloomingdale School of Music offers private instruction, group instruction, early childhood programs, ensembles and adult programs. The school's Music Access Project provides children living in under-served communities the music education necessary to qualify them for acceptance into a college or conservatory for more advanced musical training. Bloomingdale School of Music works with five local public schools and provides 500 students weekly training. All classes are age-appropriate. The school's Baby's and Toddler's First Music Class is designed to teach young children the joys of music while interacting with their parent or caregiver. Group classes include instruction in keyboard, violin and guitar.
The Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music is one of the oldest and largest community music schools in the nation.The conservatory offers private instruction, group classes, ensembles and choral ensembles to students from 18 months to adults of all skill levels. The Music Adventures Division is a program for children ages 18 months to 6 years, which encourages creative expression through music, dance, painting and acting. The Suzuki Method Division is based on the Suzuki Method, recognized as a highly effective approach to teaching children music. The curriculum incorporates private lessons, theory classes, group classes and parental involvement. The Suzuki Program offers lessons in violin, viola, cello, guitar and piano. The Children's Chorus, for ages 6 to 13, teaches students breath support, posture and vocal technique. Music skills in note reading, clefs, scales and time signatures are taught to children ages 8 through 10. The Conservatory also offers a musical theatre workshop, teen brass ensemble, theory games class, theory and ear training and a youth orchestra.
The Music School of New York City is located in Rego Park in New York. It offers private lessons to students of all skill levels, ages 3 and up, in piano, violin, cello and guitar. The Mini Mozarts young child program teaches preschoolers musical skills in their own homes. Beginner instruction, for ages 5 and up, is a class welcoming students to the violin, cello, piano, guitar and singing. The school also offers programs to prepare students for school musical and play auditions.

Choirs are arranged by age group and put an emphasis on posture, breath control, breathing and the importance of using your diaphragm. Music theory is taught in all age groups.
