How to Make an Appointment for Assessment Tests

Assessment tests are used by schools in order to properly place students in class. Assessment tests can be performed over a wide range of areas. For example, a new student at a high school may be required to take a math assessment test to determine if he should receive credit for subjects he has already taken at another school. A young student who is struggling with reading might be required to take an assessment test to determine if she needs to see a school-based reading specialist on a regular basis.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact the school office and determine the department responsible for the assessment test. This varies depending on the nature of the assessment test. A math assessment test might be handled by the math department, while a gross motor skills assessment test may be done by the occupational therapy department. Call the office and inform them what type of assessment test your child needs.

    • 2

Speak with the teacher, therapist or other educator who is charge of the assessment test. Ask for a date, time and the location where the test will be held.

    • 3

Notify other teachers, therapists and educators who need to be present for the test. Some assessment tests require multiple educators observe the test. When coordinating ask the school to contact all appropriate parties and inform them of the agreed upon date, time and location.

    • 4

Confirm the appointment. A day or so before the test, confirm the appointment with the school office or appropriate party. If rescheduling, give the office as much notice as possible so all parties can be informed of the change.
