How to Improve Writing for Standardized Tests

Many standardized tests like the SAT, ACT and LSAT require test takers to complete a writing section. These sections begin with writing prompts, which are two to three sentences that require the test taker to form a logical, comprehensive and thoughtful essay. The writing, or essay, portion of these tests usually make up at least a third of the final score, making this section an important one in which to do well.

Have a peer review your work. Try to find someone who excels in English and writing. Ask him or her to give an honest critique of your essay. Another idea is to ask a teacher to look over your work.
