Create invitations as unique as the book itself. Trace an arrow from cardboard and use this as an invitation. The invitation does not have to be in a card style; it can be only one piece of paper with all the information listed. List all the party information in a rhyming manner. Make up words in the Dr. Seuss style. Send the invitations in envelopes decorated with Dr. Seuss stickers or images.
Create a banner with hot-air balloons flanking the name of the guest of honor, or the year if the graduation is for a group. Place this banner over the entrance. Use hot-air balloon centerpieces and images around the party area. Create a signpost with arrows pointing in different directions. Write names or other pertinent information for the party on the arrows. Hire a caricature artist to create a book of the event that the guest of honor or school can put on display.
Have guests attempt to place a paper arrow farthest from their hometown on a flat map while blindfolded and give a prize to the guest who places it at the greatest distance. Conduct a scavenger hunt in which party attendees find a list of items. The scavenger hunt idea will work well for a lower-grade graduation party at school, with students searching their future classrooms in a higher grade for items.
Serve treats from around the world. The book is about exploring new possibilities, so purchase or create treats not commonly eaten by the party attendees. Label each treat table with its country of origin and a mini-flag from that country. Allow guests to sample each treat and rate the treats on a scale of best to worst tasting.
