Thank You Teacher Ideas

According to the National Parent Teacher Association, educators focus on their jobs more than any other profession, devoting thousands of hours working toward student success. But the time it takes parents to say "thank you" is minimal.
  1. Letter to the Editor

    • Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. List your teacher's name, grade and school, along with why this teacher is an asset to the community. Utilize the NEA Teacher Thank You website to post a card online.

    Gift of Relaxation

    • Hire a massage therapist to set up in the teacher's lounge for 15-minute sessions. To offset the cost, ask the classroom parents to contribute.

    Favorite Things Booklet

    • On 3 x 6 pieces of card stock, write the prompt "My favorite thing about my teacher is ..." Send one card home with each student to fill out and return along with $1 bill. Compile the book alternating a card and money and top with a title page "25 Favorite Things About You."

    You Are So Sweet Treats

    • Bake teacher cupcakes that your child helps to decorate. Place in professional cupcake boxes. Attach a note on top saying, "Thank you for being so sweet to me."

    Handwritten Note

    • Have your child write a special thank you note to his teacher. Include at least one example of how the teacher helped that student directly. Attach a handwritten note from the parent.
