Show your child the letters in her name. Use everday opportunities to immerse your child in these letters. For example, after your child draws a picture, write her name on it. Read the letters out loud to her, and ask her to repeat them back. Repeat this process often.
Make a homemade alphabet book with your child. Allow your child to select the color of paper that will be used to make the pages and letters. Dedicate one page to each letter. Three-hole punch the book and tie it together with yarn or string. Review the letters each day with your child.
Teach your child a simple song that uses all the letters in the alphabet. Sing it often, and encourage your child to sing along. It may take some time before your child masters the distinctions between each letter, but eventually the song will come together.
Read to your child often. As he listens, he will begin to realize that the story is comprised of letters. This indirect approach will further acquaint him with the letters of the alphabet.
Purchase an educational movie designed to teach the alphabet. Read online reviews, and talk to trusted friends and your child's teacher before making your purchase.
