Uses for the E-Travel Classroom

E-Travel or One World Classrooms provides a unique opportunity for teachers and students to meet their counter-parts in other countries without ever leaving the safety of their own community. Modern technology allows real-time sharing between geographically separate classrooms. Students can share lessons organized collaboratively by their instructors, or they can enjoy video recordings and materials stored on the One World website.
  1. Classroom Collaboration with Distant Communities

    • During the 2010-2011 school year, One World Classrooms, formerly known as Creative Communities, hosted collaborative exchanges between teachers and students. Students and teachers exchanged information through email and real-time sharing via video and Internet. Registration is currently closed, but One World is working on a program to allow teachers to contact each other to set up similar programs on their own.

    Virtual Travel

    • Enjoy the free materials provided in One World's Free Travel & Learn Online Content section. There are videos of activities shared by traveling teachers and local students in various locales, informative tourism materials, student productions and more ready to use as enrichment for social studies, art or even math classes.

    International Art Exchange

    • Students prepare artwork to mail via regular mail. Their pictures are sent to One World Classrooms in Massachusetts; staff there will mail back artwork from a class similar in subject and age group. There is a $100 fee for this service.

    Nurture Education Around the World

    • Participate in the "Make a Difference" program by making a contribution when you register for one or more of the other programs or hold a fund raiser to benefit a recipient school. One World Classrooms has a list of schools it is helping and examples of the type of materials and equipment each one needs.
