Display an alphabet train in your classroom. Print the letter of the Spanish alphabet on individual pieces of poster board and display them on a wall in your classroom. Alternatively, you can purchase a pre-fabricated Spanish alphabet train. Point to each letter on the train and provide the Spanish pronunciation of each letter. Have children repeat the letters after you say them. Repeat this practice at the start of each class period.
Teach students the alphabet song in Spanish. Use the tune of the English alphabet song, but replace the English pronunciation of the letters with the Spanish pronunciation. Point to each of the letters on the alphabet train as you sing the song.
Print the letters of the Spanish alphabet on index cards. Set the index cards out in a pile. Instruct students to place the cards in the correct order. Have them point to and state the names of the letters in Spanish after they arrange the cards in alphabetical order.
Sort the letters of the Spanish alphabet. Write the letters of the Spanish alphabet on small pieces of paper--write each letter on four or five pieces of individual paper. Place the papers in a pile. Instruct students to sort through the pile of letters and place all of the same letters in the same pile. While they are sorting, encourage them to say the names of each of the letters in Spanish.
Write the letters of the Spanish alphabet on concrete with sidewalk chalk. Encourage students to jump onto each of the letters and state the name of each letter in Spanish as they land on them.
