WebCT Instructions

WebCT allows teachers to upload course materials, host class discussions, issue assignments and grade papers online. The tool consists of an interface with various icons a teacher can click to access timed tests, grade storage, presentations and communication. This software also helps teachers monitor student participation by keeping track of the articles and assignments uploaded by the teacher and viewed by the student. Students and teachers are able to manage their time more efficiently, since students can view their grades and submit questions online instead of waiting before or after school.

Instructions

      Open your Web browser and navigate to the WebCT page associated with your school. The typical URL is http://webct.yourschoolnamehere.edu. Alternately, your school may have a WebCT link on its homepage.

      Click the "Log in to My WebCT" link on the page and enter the WebCT ID and password your school assigned you.

      Select the "Teach" tab to score assignments, record grades and communicate with students.

      Click the icon on the toolbar that resembles an open envelope to access "Mail." All messages are found in the right frame of the screen. Select "Create Message" to send messages to a single student or your entire class roster.

      Remind students of deadlines or conference dates by choosing the "Calendar" icon from the toolbar, clicking the desired date and entering the desired information when prompted.
