Search the TI-Nspire library of classroom activities made specifically for the calculator. The library provides lessons for both math and science class, appropriate grade levels, a brief description of the activity and how the material lines up with academic standards.
Create questions for the students to answer using the "Question" application present on the teacher software. This allows a teacher to create various scenarios that students can access. This is a good way to check for understanding as you progress through a lesson.
Utilize the accessory tools that connect to the calculator. These plug into the ports on the back of the calculators and are used to test solutions using the accessory. For example, one accessory is a pH tester. Students can use this to test the pH of different solutions and import the data ports into the calculator to create graphs from the information.
Use the teacher software packages, which offer the ability to monitor all students' calculators while they are in use on one screen. The teacher can monitor to make sure students are staying on task and help students who are struggling with content to help get them back on track.
Use the Smart Tech library of lesson plans at the Smart Exchange website to find grade level appropriate levels on almost any topic. These lessons are reviewable prior to download to see what activities are present in the lessons and provides the teacher with an overview of what is contained within the lesson.
Get students involved in the lesson activities. Control the Smart Board just by touch. When activities appear during the lesson, call on students to answer the question at the board. Instead of writing answers on the board, students drag and drop, write, match and draw the answers directly onto the board with a finger or specially designed pens for the board.
Use the Smart Board in association with a variety of subjects, from English to math and science lessons. For example, English lessons may include compare and contrast where students use Venn diagrams to compare two different characters from a story.
