Mount the board on the wall for easiest access, or on a movable stand if you plan to use the board in various places in the room. Connect the computer to the projector, which then sends the information you want to present and projects it on the board. Use the markers that come with the board to write on it.
Use the Promethean board in any subject area. For example, create an interactive PowerPoint display for language arts class and allow the students to come up to the board and choose the correct answer. Click a marker color and then you and the students write and make corrections for spelling and punctuation right on the screen with the digital pen.
Connect to the Internet to find resources for a variety of subject areas, including math and science. Go on a Web Hunt in science class that allows students to explore such topics as dinosaurs, gold and Native American customs while on a virtual tour of the American Museum of Natural History. Students interact with the website by clicking and dragging items within the site. For example, students can assemble Native American crafts by manipulating different components by touching the screen or by using the digital pen.
Use the flip charts for the Promethean board and the software provided with the board for exploration, taking tests or completing quizzes. The software is available for most subject areas and for all grade levels. Software provided for special education and ESL students allows them to interact and participate in learning activities in a positive way.
