Instructions

    • 1

Design the board. Lightly sketch it out in pencil on a plain white 8.5" x 14" sheet of paper. If drawing is not your forte, find a blank template to use.

    • 2

Color the game board with markers, paints or colored pencils. The game board should be colorful and inviting.

    • 3

Paste the paper onto the slightly larger cardboard base. Allow the board to dry before folding it up or putting it away.

    • 4

Define rules for playing the game. Write these out on an unlined sheet of paper and make enough copies for each group. Some rules could include: move one space if the correct answer is given, move back one space for each incorrect answer.

    • 5

Create question cards about Earth and its layers. The questions should be appropriate for the grade level of kids to be participating in the game. Questions for middle school students could ask basic facts about each layer or the behavior of each layer in regards to Earth processes. Questions for high school students could involve math calculations in addition to facts.

    • 6

Add additional pieces such as dice, tokens or game pieces to a box where they cannot become separated.
