Crafts With Bananas

Bananas are not only a healthy food for kids to eat, but also make a fun and interesting craft subject, especially for edible crafts. Parents or teachers looking for crafts that are suitable for kids of all ages will enjoy making these banana crafts.
  1. Monkey and Bananas

    • To make the monkey and bananas craft, you will need green construction paper, card stock, clear tape, glue, scissors, a pencil and markers or crayons. Take one sheet of green construction paper, roll it into a cone shape and tape the ends. Draw or print a picture of a monkey and a bunch of bananas on the card stock, color it and cut it out. Take another sheet of green construction paper and cut long leaves. Place the leaves inside the top of the cone and secure it with tape. Glue the bunch of bananas at the base of the leaves, place the monkey halfway up the cone, as if it were climbing a tree, and glue one hand onto the cone.

    Banana Dog

    • Making the banana dog, which resembles a hot dog on a bun, is a fun way to encourage children to eat healthy meals. You will need a whole grain hot dog bun, sunflower seeds, jam, a banana and peanut butter. Spread the bun with peanut butter and sprinkle the sunflower seeds onto the peanut butter. Take a whole, peeled banana and place on top of the peanut butter. Add of squiggle of jam on the banana and enjoy it with a cup of milk.

    Banana Boat

    • The banana boat is a fun craft that children can make and eat afterwards. You will need a banana, peanut butter, raisins, a toothpick and construction paper. Cut a small strip off the bottom of the banana and lay the flat part on the plate, with the ends of the banana pointing up for the boat. Spread peanut butter on top of the banana and sprinkle raisins, for sailors, on top of the peanut butter. Cut out a small triangular flag from the construction paper and have your child name the boat. Thread the flag through the toothpick and stick it into the banana.

    Banana Nameplate

    • This banana craft is useful for party nameplates. To make one, you will need yellow construction paper, decorations such as stickers, markers, scissors and a pencil. Trace a banana shape on the yellow construction paper and cut out the shape. Write your name and a fun fact about yourself on the banana. Decorate the banana with stickers, glitter and drawings.
