Pre-K Crafts With Orange

Learning colors is an essential part of any Pre-K curriculum. Orange is a vibrant, fun color that is frequently a favorite of children. You can teach colors in a variety of ways. The most important aspect of any color lesson is making sure the children can associate the color with its name. It's fun and easy to teach a number of Pre-K crafts using the color orange.
  1. Powdered Drink Painting

    • Get orange powdered drink mix or Jell-O mix and mix it with some water. Have the children paint with the orange mixture, using either a paintbrush or their fingers. One of the best aspects of this craft is that the mixture is edible.

    Orange Collage

    • Assemble small orange items. The items should be small and easy to work with. Orange tissue paper, pieces of yarn, construction paper and even orange glitter are all good choices. Place the items and glue on the art table and let the children make collages of the orange items using glue and paper.

    Jack-O'-Lantern Mask

    • Draw a jack-o'-lantern on the back of a paper plate and cut out the eyes and mouth. Have the children color or paint the paper plate orange and decorate it as they prefer. When the plates are dry, punch a hole in each side of the plate and tie yarn to each side. Tie the paper plate to the children's face to use as a mask. Show the children pictures of real jack-o'-lanterns and discuss how jack-o'-lanterns are made of pumpkins and pumpkins are orange.

    Make Orange

    • Place a small amount of red paint and yellow paint in a plastic bag. Seal the bag completely. Have the children play with the bag, mixing the colors to create orange.
