How to Keep Track of Your Transcripts When Home Schooled

A homeschooled student must still meet the class and credit requirements of his state and school district. The official way to track a student's education, to prove he has met the requirements, is with a school transcript. The high school transcript, for instance, tracks all classes the student has taken from grade nine through grade 12. Once completed, you can also use the transcript to apply for college.

Instructions

    • 1

Write “Official Transcript” or another such title at the top of the page. Center, bold and adjust the font size to your liking. Use the Times New Roman font.

    • 2

List the student's information on the left side of the page. This includes the student's full name, date of birth, address, phone number and legal guardians' names. Write the information of the school your homeschooling program is affiliated with, if applicable, on the right side of the page. Center the student's information if you don't need to list school information.

    • 3

Organize the transcript into years or semesters, whichever is applicable to the student's studies. List each year with the grade, such as “Grade 9,” and the year of the grade, such as “2001-2002.” List the semesters under each year as “Fall” and “Spring.”

    • 4

Write the name of each course under the appropriate semester. The course title must describe the coursework completely. Anybody who reads it should have a reasonable idea of what the student studied.

    • 5

Attach a grade to each course, along with the number of credits and grade point average, or GPA, the student earned.

    • 6

Award grades based upon how well you think the student mastered the subject. An “A” means the student has completely mastered it. A “B” means he grasps it well. So on, through the grade letter “F.”

    • 7

Include a cumulative GPA at the bottom of the page. Add the GPA from each course, divide by the number of courses. Round to the second decimal place.
