How to Graph Quadratic Codes on a Calculator

Quadratic codes are polynomial equations -- often represented by the formula "ax²+bx+c=0." While these equations can be solved by hand, it's a time consuming task susceptible to many errors. An easier alternative is to solve a quadratic equation using a calculator to input the equation and graph it. To do this, you will need a graphing calculator, such as a TI-83 or greater. Scientific calculators will not allow you to graph quadratic functions.

Instructions

    • 1

Write out your quadratic problem in the quadratic formula, meaning it will appear as "ax²+bx+c=0."

    • 2

Turn on your calculator and press "Y=" to open the graphing function.

    • 3

Input your quadratic problem into your calculator on the line that says "\y1=". Your equation should appear in the calculator as:

      \y1=ax²+bx+c

    • 4

Press "Graph" to graph the function.
