How to Make Presentations Fun and Interesting for Kids

When kids want to have fun, they seek out toys and playmates, not presentations. However, making your presentation fun and interesting for kids increases the chances that the kids will come away from the experience with new knowledge. Incorporating interactivity, discussion, humor and your personal experiences helps kids relate to you and your topic. Leaving kids with something tangible to remember you by helps your effort long after your presentation has ended.

Instructions

    • 1

Incorporate interactive activities such as games, crafts or other hands-on material. Young children especially benefit from interactive activities.

    • 2

Discuss the topic with kids, rather than lecturing the whole time. Don't let one child dominate the discussion.

    • 3

Add humor. Tell a joke or funny anecdote about your topic to get the kids' attention.

    • 4

Relate your personal experience surrounding the topic. Explain who you are, and share your unique expertise.

    • 5

Leave something behind with the kids and their teacher, if applicable. Souvenirs keep your presentation fresh in kids' minds.
