Kids Geometry Games

Geometry is an important concept in mathematics that is sometimes difficult for kids to grasp. Sometimes it helps to make learning fun by making it interactive in the form of a game. This way, they enjoy learning before they even realize it and they take an interest in it. There are many resources for geometry games for kids that could greatly enhance their interest in the subject.
  1. Geomy: Geometry Vocabulary Bingo

    • Geomy is a great game to introduce the topic of geometry. One of the most important things when learning geometry is learning the language. It is often a set of terms that students have never used before, so they need to understand the definitions in order to understand the concepts. GEOMY is played with a twenty-five square board and markers. It is similar to traditional bingo, except the geometry terms are found in each section of the GEOMY cards. This game helps them to learn, understand, and recognize the language of geometry.

    Baseball Geometry

    • Baseball Geometry is an online game that covers many of the basic concepts of geometry. First, students are brought to a page where they can pick their topic, depending on what subjects are being covered. The game covers everything from lines and angles to finding the area of different shapes. Once they select their topic, they are brought to a page with two baseball players where they can enter their name. On the next screen, they are asked various questions and given answers to the right. The reward for a correct answer depends on how many tries it took them.

    Billy the Bug

    • Billy the Bug is another interactive online game that reinforces students' ability to locate coordinates on a graph. It is more interesting than doing it on paper or on the chalkboard, because the game presents itself as a bug trying to find his food with the help of the students finding the proper coordinates. The game shows a coordinate (x,y) to the right and the student must move the bug using arrows to the correct spot on the graph and hit the feed button. This game makes finding coordinates much more animated and fun.

    Geometric Matching

    • Geometric Matching is a useful game for more advanced topics. This game is similar to a memory game, in which you match two alike items. The difference in Geometric Matching, is that you are matching a shape's name to its appearance. You turn over two cards and try to match the picture to the title. It is a great game because it is interactive, and students must be able to recognize the different attributes of shapes in order to match them to their proper names.
