How to Convert Quarts to Ounces

The word "quart" is shorthand for a quarter gallon, a unit in the U.S. standard system of measurements (as opposed to the metric system). Quarts consist of smaller increments, including cups and fluid ounces. Every gallon equals 128 oz., which means that a quart contains a quarter of 128 oz., or 32 oz. Converting quarts to ounces requires only basic multiplication -- and possibly a calculator, depending on your math skills.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure your amount of liquid in quarts.

    • 2

Multiply your measurement of quarts by 32. Because there are 32 oz. in a quart, this multiplication method will give you the correct number of ounces from your quarts measurement.

    • 3

Look up your measurement of quarts on a quarts-to-ounces chart or calculator to cross-reference your calculation (see Resources).
