A ratio expresses a relation between two quantities. For instance, if there are 20 boys and 30 girls in a class, then the ratio of boys to girls in the class is 2:3. As ratio is a relational value, it does not have any unit. Percentage is also a relational value that expresses an amount of quantity per hundred. For instance, if there are 20 boys in a class of 50 students, the percentage of boys is 40 percent. The symbol of percentage is "%," but as it is also a relational value, it does not have any unit. Converting a ratio to a percentage is a simple task.
