Adam & Eve Creation Craft

The story of Adam and Eve is the Biblical account of the creation of the world and man. Genesis 2 narrates the story of the journey from creation to the fall of man, and sin entering the world. Children’s crafts about Adam and Eve teach children the biblical account in a way that is fun and understandable to them, and teaches major events that occurred surrounding Adam and Eve’s creation.
  1. Creation of Man

    • Genesis 2:7 tells that God created man out of the “dust of the ground.” Teach children this concept by making gingerbread cookies together. Make a batch of gingerbread dough and have children help you roll it flat and cut out gingerbread cookies that represent Adam and Eve. After the cookies are baked, have the children decorate them with icing and sprinkles. Discuss that although each cookie came from the same batch of dough, each one is unique and different, just as each person is.

    Temptation

    • God gave Adam and Eve permission to go anywhere in the Garden of Eden and eat anything they wanted, except from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve was tempted by a serpent and ate from the forbidden tree, and shared it with Adam. Recreate this scene through a finger-painting craft. Give each child paper and finger paints and have them create a tree to represent the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil,” and a snake with Adam and Eve.

    The Fall of Man

    • Adam and Eve disobeyed God, bringing sin into the world. An apple is often used to represent the fruit that Adam and Eve ate from the tree. Use apple stamps to create the tree of the knowledge of good and evil on old white t-shirts. Cut the apples in half, dip the flat side in fabric paint and stamp them on t-shirts to create a tree pattern. Then use paintbrushes to add the tree trunk.

    Trust & Obedience

    • When the serpent approached Eve, he persuaded her to eat from the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil." Eve trusted the serpent instead of obeying God. Have the children make a snake chain to remind them to be obedient to God, rather than be persuaded to disobey. Cut 10 to 16 paper strips (about two inches wide) out of green and yellow construction paper. Ask the children to make the first strip of paper into a ring and glue or tape it together. Loop the second piece of construction paper through the first and glue or tape together (just like a Christmas chain). Continue until all the papers are used. Next cut red paper into eyes and a small “Y” shape for a tongue. Add them to the first paper ring.
