Adam & Eve Preschool Activities

Genesis 1:26-3:24 tells the Bible story of Adam and Eve. God created man and woman, the first people in the creation God made. He set them in a beautiful garden and He blessed them. Yet, though they had all they needed and a special relationship with their creator, first Eve, then Adam were tempted to sin by disobeying God. Preschools can learn and understand these events through crafts, games and other hands-on activities.
  1. Adam and Eve Portrait

    • Fold a large sheet of construction paper in half from top to bottom. Turn the paper to work with the fold at the left side. Cut a large gingerbread man shape through both layers of paper. Keep a portion of the left arm and left leg intact along the fold. Make one for each child. Open the paper cutouts and lay the paper figures flat on a table.

Have the kids color and glue on craft items to create the faces and hair of a man and a woman. You may have the kids glue on some artificial leaves for clothing if you wish. Stand the figures up again to look like a hinged portrait of Adam and Eve.

    Apple Puzzle

    • Cut a large apple shape from plain paper for each preschooler. Let the kids paint, color, or use apple-shaped stampers and red ink to decorate their apples. Cut the apples into three or more easy puzzle shapes. Older preschoolers can cut their own puzzle shapes, especially if they see a sample already done. Let the kids assemble their apples. Send puzzles home in an envelope or paper lunch bag.

    Bake and Eat Snakes

    • Give each child a ready-to-bake biscuit. Have the preschoolers roll the dough into a snake. They may poke holes for eyes, draw lines down the snake's back with their fingers or curl the snake into a coil. Bake the biscuits while telling the story of how the serpent tricked Eve and how Eve convinced Adam to disobey God, too. When the biscuit snakes have cooled, the children may eat their snakes or take them home in a plastic bag.

    Don't Keep the Fruit Game

    • Seat the preschoolers on the floor in a circle shape. They should sit fairly close together. Play a game like "hot potato." Have the children pass an apple around the circle quickly while music is playing. Remind the children not to hold on to the apple for long. Stop the music periodically. The child holding the apple can say a phrase such as "Obey God," or "Don't eat the fruit!" Continue the game as time allows.

    God's Garden Collage Book

    • Provide magazines, coloring books and pre-cut shapes, as well as plain paper. Let the preschoolers find and cut out pictures or shapes of animals, people, plants, sun, moon, stars, rain, streams and other creation pictures. The kids can glue several animals to one piece of paper, people onto another, and so on until they have created several book pages. When the glue dries, stack each child's pages together and staple the left edges to form a book.
