How Do I Reference Information From a Web Page With No Author in APA Format?

The American Psychological Association citation style is a form of citing sources in an academic paper. If you do not cite your sources in the proper format both in the text of your paper and on a works cited page at the end of your paper, you will be plagiarizing the work of others. If you used a Web page without an author, you can still cite it without one.

Instructions

    • 1

Type an opening parenthesis follow every direct quotation or reference to the Web page within your paper. After the parenthesis, type the first two words of the title of the Web page followed by a comma, then type the publication year. If there is no listed publication date, put "n.d." in its place. Close the parenthesis then add the sentence's end punctuation like a period.

    • 2

Cite the Web page on the "Works Cited" page, which should be the last page of your paper. The font should be Times New Roman and size 12. You can choose these options from the top bar of your word processing software.

    • 3

Type the citation with the title of the Web page in italics. Follow this with a period.

    • 4

Type the publication date; if there is no year listed, type "n.d." in parenthesis followed by a period. Type "Retrieved from" followed by the Web page's URL.

    • 5

Double-space the citation and indent all the lines after the first one.
