Books to Introduce Kids to Homeschooling

Homeschooling is legal in all fifty states and homeschoolers come from all walks of life. They live in the country and the city; some are religious and others are nonbelievers. Many parents feel homeschooling is the best way to education their children. Families that home school spend more time together learning and playing - creating a family bond that public school children are not able to experience. As family interest in homeschooling increases, many individuals are writing an assortment of books to supplement homeschooled curriculum which includes introducing kids to homeschooling.

The authors of the book, Rachel Starr Thomson and Carolyn Joy Currey, are cousins and who were homeschooled growing up. This book, written for homeschoolers, is a nice humourous way to introduce children to homeschooling.

    • "I am a Homeschooler" is a book about a day in the life of a small homeschooled girl named, Teigen. Teigen explains the advantages of homeschooling, such as being able to work at her own pace. The pages in the book are decorated with hand tinted photographs, which gives the feeling of stepping back in time. While reading this book, new homeschoolers will have a better idea what homeschooling is all about.

    I am learning all the Time

    • "I am learning all the Time" is a story about a homeschooled family of Hugh Beagle, and his elder brother Chas. The story begins the first day of school where the boys will not go to school but instead go on a picnic with their friends. The authors Rain Perry Fordyce and Audrey Anne Miles Cherney describe the experiences of the kids being homeschooled, which includes helping their mom at lunch instead going to cafeteria, and enjoying their backyard instead of having a recess break in the school. The book includes colorful illustrations and is a great introduction book for young homeschooled kids.
