Write a letter to the superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools every year, notifying the superintendent of your intention to homeschool your child. The letter should include the school year for which you plan to homeschool your child, your name and address, your child's full name and date of birth and an assurance that your child will receive instruction in the required subjects (language, reading, spelling, writing, math, science, history, geography, government, health, physical education, fine arts, first aid, safety and fire prevention). It should include a brief outline of the curriculum you plan to use or a list of textbooks or other teaching materials you will use.
Mail the letter to: Superintendent, Cincinnati Public Schools, P.O. Box 5381, Cincinnati, OH 45201-5381.
Begin homeschooling your child by the age of six and continue homeschooling him or her until he or she turns 18.
Provide 900 hours of instruction over the course of each school year. Cover all subjects required by the state of Ohio, including language, reading, spelling, writing, math, science, history, geography, government, health, physical education, fine arts including music, first aid, safety and fire prevention. You can provide instruction in other subjects, such as religion or Bible studies or foreign languages, if you wish.
Contact the school superintendent to arrange for your child to take standardized tests required of all students in the state of Ohio or, if you prefer, submit a portfolio displaying your child's work to the superintendent.
