Set a piece of plywood on a flat surface.
Draw the base of the barge on a piece of paper with the pencil using the images as a guide. Cut out the base with scissors and set it on the plywood. Use the pencil to trace around the paper base and remove the paper.
Use the circular saw to cut out the base of the barge.
Make the hollow form to shape the plywood for the barge sides. Set the piece of pinewood on a flat surface. Set the plywood base on the pinewood and trace its outline. Remove the base.
Use the jig saw to cut out the center portion of the pinewood along the outline you made. Leave the outside trim of the pinewood intact as you cut. Separate the two pieces. The hollowed piece of wood is the form. Set the form aside.
Measure the length of one side of the base and double this measurement. Draw a rectangle on a piece of paper that is as long as this measurement. Cut out this rectangle with scissors.
Set the rectangle piece of paper on a piece of plywood and trace around the paper. Remove the paper. Cut out the rectangle from the plywood with the circular saw. Trace and cut out two more plywood rectangles.
Apply wood glue to two of the rectangles along one of their long wide sides. Set one of these rectangles on top of another -- glue side facing up on both of them --, and set the third one on top, making a sandwich of three rectangles.
Find the center of the layered plywood rectangles’ long side. Position this center point over the front, bow, of the form. Push the plywood onto the form, keeping the center of the plywood sandwich aligned with the center front. This forms the sides and front of the barge. Clamp the layered rectangles in place and let it sit for 6 hours. Unclamp the front and sides piece and remove it from the form.
Measure the width of the back end of the barge base, the stern. Measure the height of the sides of the barge. Use these measurements to draw a rectangle on a piece of paper.
Cut out the paper rectangle. Set it on a piece of plywood and trace around it. Remove the paper and cut out the plywood rectangle to form the back side of the boat.
Measure the inside width of the barge base at the back of the base. Use this measurement for the width and twice this number for the length to draw a rectangle on a piece of paper.
Cut out this rectangle with scissors and set it on a piece of plywood. Trace four rectangles onto the plywood, remove the paper and cut them out with a saw.
Draw a square that is larger than the width of the base of the barge on a piece of paper. Cut it out with scissors. Set it on some plywood and trace its outline. Remove the paper and cut out the plywood square with a saw.
Set up the hot glue gun. Run a line of glue along the edge of one of the long sides of a plywood rectangle and set another rectangle’s long side into the glue to form a right angle. Hold the two sides in place until the glue solidifies.
Run another line of glue on an unglued long side edge of a rectangle and set another rectangle’s long side onto it, forming a right angle, holding it in place until the glue solidifies. Run a line of glue on the two remaining unglued sides of the connected rectangles and set a fourth rectangle into place to form a rectangular tube. Hold in place until the glue solidifies. This forms the tower.
Set the rectangular tube on a flat surface so that one of its open ends faces up. Run a line of glue all along the edge of the open end facing upward. Set the plywood square that is larger than the base onto the open end.
Draw a rectangle half as high as the tower and small enough to fit inside the base of the barge along with the tower, in front of it. Cut this rectangle out of paper with scissors and set it on a piece of plywood. Trace two rectangles on the plywood using this piece of paper as a guide. Remove the paper and cut out the rectangles from the plywood with a saw. These rectangles make the sides of the living space.
Set the paper rectangle on another piece of paper and trace one of its short ends. Turn this into a square. Cut out this shape, set it on a piece of plywood and trace its edges. Trace a second square. Cut out the two squares. These make the ends of the rectangle for the living space.
Set up the hot glue gun.
Glue an end piece and a side piece together, holding them in place until the glue solidifies. Repeat with the other end piece and side piece. Set the two pairs of pieces together so they form a rectangle and connect them with more hot glue, holding them in place until the glue solidifies.
Draw a rectangle that is slightly larger than the living space’s sides on a piece of paper. Cut out the paper and set it on a piece of plywood. Trace the outline of the paper and remove it. Cut out the plywood rectangle with a saw, making the roof of the living space.
Run a line of hot glue along an open end of the living space rectangle. Set the larger rectangle on top of the glue.
Glue the tower near the middle back of the barge base. Glue the living space to the middle of the barge base in front of the tower.
Attach the front and sides piece to the base, both on the inside and the outside, holding it in place until the glue solidifies.
Glue on the back side piece, holding it in place until the glue solidifies.
