Type your essay on standard 8.5"x11" paper with all margins measuring 1". Use Times New Roman font at size 12, unless otherwise specified by a teacher or professor. Once the body of the paper has been written, insert a header on every page that denotes the page number in the top right corner, and the title of the paper in the top left corner.
Create a title page. This page should list the title of the paper, your name and the institution for which you are writing. Use normal font in upper and lower case letters, and center the lines beginning with the title, followed by your name and the name of the institution beneath.Keep this portion double spaced as well and do not forget the title and page number heading.
Type your abstract. On this page, write the word "Abstract" in normal font and center the label. Below, type out a summary of your article that states key points of the work. Do not indent this section, but keep it double-spaced. This section should be approximately 150 to 250 words. At the bottom of the summary type the word "keywords" in centered italics and list a few of the key words that best describe the focus of the article. This will help readers know the general content of the paper.
Create a Reference list at the end of your paper. On a new page, write the word "References" centered and at the top of the page in normal font. List references in alphabetical order of the author's last name and keep the list double spaced with hanging indents. Include author's first and name, year of publication, name of book or article, and the place and company of publication. Organize your paper in the following order: Title Page, Abstract, Main Body and References.
