Place a parenthetical reference after the paraphrased or quoted sentence(s) in your paper. Begin your parenthetical reference with an open bracket. Write the author's or authors' surname(s) followed by a comma and the year of publication. End your parenthetical citation with a close bracket and the appropriate punctuation (See Reference 1).

Create an entry in your References list for the full citation. The full citation should begin with the surname(s) used in your parenthetical reference.
Write the author's surname followed by a comma. Write the author's initial(s) followed by a period (See Reference 2).
Write the year of the article's publication in brackets followed by a period (See Reference 2).
Write the title of the article followed by a period (See Reference 2).
Write the title of the journal, in italics, followed by a comma. Write the volume number, also in italics. Do not italicize anything after this point. Write the issue number in brackets, if there is one, followed by a comma (See Reference 2).
Write the page range of the article within the journal followed by a period (See Reference 2).
